How to Create the Smokey Eyes Effect
If you are looking for a way to glam up your look then the smokey eyes effect can do the trick. It gives off a dramatic vibe, highlighting your eyes. The key in achieving this look is proper blending of pale colors with rich dark shades. A couple of mac eyeshadow in different hues can make the application process easier. Give yourself at least 10 minutes to achieve this look.
1.Use a primer on your eyelids to keep the eye colors last longer. The eyelids should also be oil free to prevent the blended shades from melting.
2.The typical colors for the smokey eyes are darker tones such as black, brown or gray. If you are using any of these, apply eyeliner in the same shade above the upper lash line. It should be thicker once it gets to the middle part of the eye.
3.The next step involves blending. Creating a dramatic effect is all about giving your bottom eyelashes a splash of color which can be easily done with the use of an eyeliner pencil. Draw the line across and start to smudge by running your fingers through it.
4.Apply a lighter shade as your base like a cream tone and blend it with a darker color. Use a shimmer around your lids up to the brow bone for a glow that will give emphasis to your eyes.
5.It’s now time to get your mac brushes ready and let it do all the work. Use it to blend the darker and light hues from the lash line up to the crease. Remember to blend, blend and blend.
Take a good look in the mirror and see if everything is blended perfectly. Do quick fixes on some areas with the use of a Q tip. To complete your whole look apply a few coats of mascara for thicker and bolder eyelashes.
